Description
32 Mill Lane is a house dating from the mid-18th century, with later alterations. It has a timber frame and a brick plinth, and is currently part rendered and part boarded due to restoration work. The roof is slate with a brick stack at the right end. The house has two storeys and features a two-window range at the first floor with three-light casements, while the ground floor is boarded.
Inside, the complete wall frame is visible, showcasing tall panels and diagonal braces, along with some re-used earlier framing in the left gable wall. The bridging beams on the ground and first floors have simple chamfers. The roof above the wall plate is from the 20th century. There is a brick open fireplace with a bressumer and hood, a winder stair, internal partitions, and old floorboards. This house is a little-altered example of a small timber-framed dwelling from the period, making it comparatively rare.
