Description

Stour Hall is a building located on Stour Street, dating from the 16th century but significantly altered in the 17th and 18th centuries. It is a two-storey structure that is timber-framed and plastered, with tiled roofs. The building features cross wings at both the east and west, with upper storeys that project at the front and hipped gables. An addition with a hipped roof is present at the west end, where the timber-framing is exposed, along with an 18th or 19th-century verandah on the return to the west. The front displays exposed timber-framing and an 18th-century moulded wood cornice with ogee modillions that wraps around the cross wings. There are four window ranges with flush frame sashes that include glazing bars, and two ground floor bays in the cross wings. Some original window openings can be found on the upper storey of the west cross wing. This is regarded as a good house.
