Description

St Mary's, located at 12 Stour Street, is a 17th-century building that stands two storeys tall. It features a timber-framed structure with plastering and tiled roofs. The building has cross wings on the east and west sides, although the west wing has been significantly altered in the 18th century. The upper storeys of the cross wings project outward. Most of the windows are sash style with glazing bars arranged in a 1:3:1 pattern, and there is one shallow splay bay window on the ground floor. The entrance has a central pedimented doorcase, which has been altered, leading to a six-panel door that is accessed by steps with small handrails. The building also has cellars. St Mary's is part of a group that includes No. 16 St Mary's, No. 19 The Chantry, and Salter's Hall.
