Description
Church House, located at 29 Church Street, is an 18th-century building that stands three storeys tall and features five windows, along with a two-storey, two-window wing extension on the right. The structure is built of ashlar and has a hipped slate roof. The central portion of the main facade slightly projects forward and is adorned with a moulded cornice and a pediment. There are plain strings at the first-floor level and at the sill level of the first-floor windows, along with a plinth course. All windows are double-hung sashes with glazing bars. The ground floor windows have plain reveals, while the first-floor windows are framed with architrave surrounds that include a pulvinated frieze and a flat cornice. The central window above the door is Venetian, flanked by Ionic pilasters. The second-floor windows also have architrave surrounds. The central portion features rusticated quoins up to the first floor, a square-headed doorway with an architrave surround set within a semi-circular-headed recess that has rusticated jambs, a keystone, and a stepped extrados, leading to a six-panelled door. On either side of the door are two smaller windows. The two-storey wing has a moulded cornice and a plain parapet, with a plain string at the first-floor level. The windows in this wing are also double-hung sashes set in reveals.
