Description
30 Church Street is a mid to late 19th-century building that stands two storeys tall, with a one-storey, one-window section to the left. The structure is made of ashlar and features long and short quoins at the ends of the main block. It has a stringcourse and a moulded cornice adorned with an egg motif, along with a parapet that has open balustrading above the windows.
There are three windows on the upper floor, each with architrave surrounds and moulded cornices above. The ground floor features triple lights divided by square mullions, which have raised surrounds and moulded cornices that support residual pediments above. The sills of the windows are supported by small brackets.
The central door is framed by a surround with a narrow entablature above, supported by pilasters with tall bases. The round-headed doorway includes a keystone and impost capitals, a semi-circular fanlight, and a six-panel door.
This building is part of a group of listed buildings on Church Street, which includes the Chantry, Little Chantry, Barton Orchard, and the Catholic Church of St Thomas More on Market Street, as well as Nos 7 and 9 to 19 Barton Orchard, Nos 5 and 6, and 27 to 31 (consecutive) and the wall at Newtown.
