Description
This is an 18th-century building on the south side of Church Street. It is constructed of ashlar stone, with the ground floor painted and a stone-tiled roof. Rusticated quoins mark the corners. The building is three stories high, with three sash windows on each floor. The windows have glazing bars. The second-floor windows are framed by architraves with plain sills supported by brackets beneath. The first-floor windows have moulded flat cornices, except for the central window, which has a segmental pediment. A plain string course runs along the first floor, and a moulded cornice sits above, topped by a plain parapet. The central doorway is square-headed, featuring a fanlight and an eight-panelled door. It has an architrave surround with a flat cornice resting on moulded brackets. To the right of the door is a shop window, and sash windows are situated to the left. The building forms a group with other listed buildings in Church Street including the Chantry, Barton Orchard, the Catholic Church of St Thomas More, Market Street, and numbers 7, 9-19, 5, 27-31 and a wall in Newtown.
