Description

This is a timber-framed and plastered building of 16th and 17th century origin, with later alterations, located on the south side of Stour Street. It comprises two-and-a-half storeys and includes attics. The building is approximately 40 feet wide, displaying a window arrangement of 1:2:3:1 across its facade. The windows are 18th century sash windows with glazing bars. The upper storeys of the east and west cross wings project slightly, with two curved brackets remaining. Partial timber framing is visible on one gable, while other sections of the front have painted mock timber framing. The ground floor features two six-panel doors, each framed by moulded wood architraves; the door at number 1 has a cornice above. The interior has not been inspected but is likely to contain noteworthy features. Numbers 1 to 6 Stour Street form a group.
