Description
This is a probable 17th-century building with later alterations, located at 31-35 Benton Street. It is a two-storey timber-framed structure, now plastered, with tiled roofs and cross wings extending north and south. The north wing features projecting upper storeys on its front elevation. A central chimney stack, dated to the 17th century, includes grouped diagonal shafts and is covered with cement. The front of the north block has been refaced with red brick at ground floor level. The south cross wing features an 18th-century bay window with glazing bars at ground floor, and includes cellars. The building forms a group with numbers 29-41 (odd) and 28-32 (even). A photograph of the building is held by the National Monuments Record.
