Description
Bull Lane Farmhouse is a 16th to 17th century timber-framed and plastered house featuring cross wings at both the east and west ends. The south front was completely refronted in the 18th century, during which the central part was built out and raised. The building has two storeys and a four-window range with double hung sashes that include glazing bars. A central six-panel door is framed by an architrave and is sheltered by a Tuscan porch with plain columns and a modillion cornice. The east and west cross wings project from the rear, with the east wing displaying exposed timber-framing. At the north end, there is a two-storey square bay with mostly blocked mullioned windows, along with some lattice leaded lights on the ground floor. The gable over the bay is supported by a cambered bressummer adorned with fine carved ornamentation and arched braces at the outer ends, which feature pendants. An additional later wing extends to the west of the west cross wing. The roofs are tiled, showcasing a paired modillion eaves cornice on the south front, and there is a prominent chimney stack with four grouped octagonal shafts on a square base at the east cross wing.
