Description
The Summer House at Melford Hall is a 16th-century red brick building that is two storeys high and has an octagonal shape. It features octagonal corner buttresses topped with octagonal pinnacles. Each side of the octagon has a gable, also surmounted by an octagonal pinnacle. The windows are 18th-century double-hung sashes with glazing bars, set in stone surrounds that have square hood moulds. Access to the upper storey is via a straight flight of steps on the east side, which leads to a porch supported by short fluted columns. The Summer House is integrated into the west wall of Melford Hall at its northern end.
