Description
Long Melford Primary School is a red brick building with blue brick diapering, designed by A H Parker and built in 1860, with an enlargement in 1895. It is designed in an "Elizabethan" style to harmonise with Melford Hall, the Elizabethan mansion located opposite. The main block features slightly projecting gabled wings at the north and south ends, with additional wings extending to the north and south of the main block, also featuring gables on the front. The main block is one storey high and includes one attic dormer window in the centre, while the side wings are two storeys. The windows are primarily mullioned and transomed casements. At the south end, there is an octagonal brick tower with rectangular openings, two clock faces on the middle stage, a brick dentil cornice, and a dome. The roof is tiled, adorned with ornamental crest tiles, and has a tall shafted chimney stack on the main block.
