Description
Hall Mill House is a timber-framed and plastered house, likely originating from the 16th or 17th century, although it has been largely refaced in brick and plaster. A mill has been recorded on this site since the mid-16th century, noted in a land grant to Sir William Cordell, who built the current Melford Hall. The mill, which used to be adjacent to the house on the north side, has since been demolished. The house features double gables on the south front and a gable on the west front. The north gable is weather-boarded in a 20th-century style that mimics the 18th century. It is two storeys high with a three-window range on the south front. The windows are double-hung sashes with glazing bars. The south front includes a two-storey canted bay at the east end and a single-storey bay at the west end, along with a central doorway. The roof is tiled and has a double pitch, adorned with 19th-century ornamental bargeboards on the south side.
