Description
This building, a house and small shop known as R B Maswell, is located adjacent to Stour Cottage on the west side of Cross Street. It likely dates from the 16th century and is two storeys high, constructed with timber framing and plaster. The roofs are tiled, and there is a cross wing at the west end that features a projecting upper storey. The front has another gable that projects on brackets and includes a carved bressumer, which is covered. A large original central chimney stack with four octagonal shafts sits on a square base. The ground floor contains a small early 19th-century shop that is below street level. Part of the front displays exposed timber framing, while the northeast section is painted. There are likely notable interior features as well.
