Description
Hubbard's Hall is a house dating from the 16th century, with later alterations and additions. It features a timber frame and a plastered exterior, topped with a red plain tiled roof and a red brick plinth. The building has two storeys and includes off-centre chimney stacks at the rear and on the external left side. A long wall jetty supported by six brackets is present, along with projecting gable bressumers. The façade has a range of four windows, consisting of two and three-light 19th-century style casements with transoms. There is a step approach leading to a reproduction door and doorway on the left side. The right bay displays old pargetting, although the doorway with a dated panel from 1591 and a pargetted Tudor rose has been removed. To the right, there is a rear wing, and a single-storey extension is located to the left. Inside, much of the frame is exposed, showcasing jowled storey posts, arched braces to tie beams, and a halved and bridled top plate scarf, which is said to be a two-arm crown post structure. Original first-floor boards are found near the chimney stack, and there is a restored inglenook fireplace, along with a fireplace featuring a mantel beam in the rear wing. The carved vine pattern on the hall beam, mentioned in a previous listing, is no longer present.
