Description

Maltings Cottage is a house dating from the 16th century, constructed with a timber frame and plastered exterior. It features a red plain tiled roof and has an external left offset red brick chimney stack, along with a rear off-centre right stack. There is a 20th-century rear wing added to the structure. The cottage stands two storeys high and has a three-window range of 20th-century small paned casements. An off-centre left 20th-century gabled porch leads to the door. Inside, the timber frame appears to be intact and consists of four bays, with jowled storey posts, arched braces to the tie beam, a halved and bridled top plate scarf, a two-arm crown post roof structure, and heavy chamfered bridging joists.
