Description

BERGH APTON THE STREET, West TG 30 SW side Apton Manor (formerly 2/28 listed as Street Farm- 25.9.51 house) - II House, c1600 and later. Red brick with steeply pitched pantile roof (smut pantiles on front elevation). Two storeys and attics. South facade with irregular fenestration of 2,3 and 4 light casements, all C20 replacements. Off-centre 2½ storey porch of c1700 with rusticated brick quoins and dressings; moulded string courses at floor levels. Shaped gable with ball- finials. Semi-circular headed doorway, 3-light first floor casement and circular attic casement with glazing bars. Parapeted gables, with later internal stack at east gable. Central ridge stack with three lozenge-shaped linked shafts. On the north side, two 2½ storey projections from main range, each with an external stack on the east side with octagonal chimney shafts. C20 ground and first floor casements. The taller projection to the west has a blocked 3-light attic window with ovolo brick mullions. Entrance door in lean-to between projecting wings. Long catslide extension to west. At the south-east corner, an attached red brick garden wall with a swept top and three bee boles.
