Description

The Old Hall is a house dating from the early 18th century. It is built of red brick and features a steeply pitched roof covered with smut pantiles. The building has two storeys and attics, with the principal facade facing south, which is symmetrical and consists of three bays, with the central bay being advanced and gabled. There is a blind circular window at the apex of the gable. The windows are 19th century casements, arranged in two and three lights with a transom, and have segmental arches above them.

The central doorway is framed by a pedimented surround with Tuscan pilasters and a key block in the architrave. The door itself is half glazed, featuring glazing bars and six raised and fielded lower panels. The gables are parapeted and include two-light attic casements. Flanking the central bay are two ridge chimney stacks.

The house has lower two-storey side wings with hipped pantiled roofs, which contain 19th century casements, some of which have segmental heads. There are chimney stacks along the ridge line and a brick saw-tooth eaves course.

Attached to the house are red brick swept garden walls on the east and west sides. On the north side, there is a central two-storey porch with an early 20th century doorway that includes a half-glazed door, a fanlight, and side lights with leaded glazing. The first floor features a two-light casement with a transom, and the parapet gable has moulded brick eaves that oversail the courses.
