Description
Avenue Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from the 17th and 18th centuries, though it may have an earlier core. The building is constructed of brick, which is whitewashed and partly rendered, and features steeply pitched roofs covered in red and black-glazed pantiles. It has a T-shaped plan and stands two storeys tall.
The east facade has four widely spaced windows, which are 19th century casements with two and three lights. There are two ground floor openings with segmental heads and plain brick corner pilasters. The entrance is off-centre and features a 20th century glazed porch. An off-centre axial chimney stack has four octagonal shafts with rebuilt tops.
To the north-west, there is a hipped two-storey range with an external chimney stack on the south side that has two diagonally-set shafts. Additionally, there is a two-storey catslide extension with 19th century four-pane sashes, and a one-storey catslide at the south-west corner with a three-light 19th century casement.
