Description
This 17th-century outbuilding is located immediately northeast of Yelverton Hall. It is constructed of red brick and features a steeply pitched roof that is pantiled on the west side and plain tiled on the east. The west facade has a central doorway flanked by two larger blocked openings, supported by rusticated brick pilasters. The north and south gables have crow-stepped designs with moulded eaves corbels. The south gable includes a two-light ground floor casement and a double door opening, both with segmental arched heads, as well as two first-floor windows featuring ovolo moulded mullions and transoms with segmental heads. A plat band runs at first floor level, and there is a blind oculus in the gable apex with gault brick keys. The north gable has double doors with a segmental arched head, and the east side has a four-light upper window with ovolo moulded mullions and leaded glazing. There is also a small lean-to and a brick flue on the east wall. Inside, the building features tie beams with arch braces to the wall posts, and the roof structure includes lower butt-purlins and an upper clasped purlin with wind braces to the principal rafters.
