Description
Colks Farm House is a farmhouse that dates from the early 18th century, with an earlier core from the 17th century. It is constructed of red brick and has a pantiled roof. The building is two storeys high, featuring a single-storey outshut that has been converted to one and a half storeys. There is a two-storey extension added to the north in the 20th century, along with a single-storey lean-to extension to the south and a 19th-century axial extension to the east, creating an 'L' shaped plan.
The principal facade faces south and has an off-centre entrance door. The lower half of the west gable wall is made of flint with a plinth and is likely from the 17th century. The upper half features a moulded platband, blocked windows with hood moulds, and two small niches at the attic level. There is an end stack with a string course and two rebuilt round brick shafts. The windows on the southern facade are 20th-century casements set in original openings, which have segmental brick arches.
The southwestern quarter of the facade has a brick plinth with moulded brick plinth bricks and a platband at the first-floor level. The remainder of the facade is late 18th century, showcasing brick corbel eaves. A line of the earlier gable can be seen in the east gable. The outshut features 20th-century gabled dormers, along with a 20th-century entrance door and a pedimented doorcase. The building has parapet gables, an off-centre axial stack, and an east gable stack.
