Description
The Church of Holy Trinity is a parish church built in 1864 by Thomas Jekyll. It is constructed from flint with stone dressings and features a slate and pantiled roof. The church comprises a nave, north aisle, south aisle, north vestry, and chancel, all designed in a plain Early English style. The north and south aisles each have four bays, with angle buttresses and western doors, and are adorned with single lancet windows. The west gable wall includes three lancet windows and a sexfoil in the gable. The vestry has a north door and an eastern lancet window. The chancel features a priest's door flanked by two lancet windows on the south side and three lancet windows on the east, along with angle buttresses and parapet gables. A timber bellcote is situated on the peak of the east nave gable. The interior remains unaltered, showcasing a four-bay nave with plain circular piers and capitals, as well as panelled barrel roofs in both the nave and chancel. The pulpit is part octagonal and made of stone in the Early English style, featuring cusped arches and foliated columns. The font base is from the early 12th century and supports a 19th-century square bowl, with the base intricately carved with entwined winged serpents, separated from the foliated base section by double keel moulding.
