Description

The Old Rectory is a former rectory house dating from the 18th century. It is constructed of whitewashed brick and render, with a hipped roof covered in black-glazed pantiles. The symmetrical entrance front has five bays, with the two outer bays slightly recessed. It features tall sash windows with glazing bars and exposed boxes, set within gauged brick arches. The central entrance is framed by square Tuscan columns and a half-glazed panelled door with a moulded architrave. There are two blind ground floor openings to the right of the entrance porch. A central first-floor window has a semi-circular arched head, with moulded arch imposts and a keystone carved with a grotesque head. String courses are located at first floor level and above the first-floor window heads. Wide eaves overhang, supported by plain paired brackets to the soffit, and there are two chimney stacks.

The south front incorporates two segmental bow windows: one single-storey with a parapet, and a two-storey bow to the right with tall sash windows lacking glazing bars on the ground floor, and sashes with glazing bars on the first floor. Central glazed double doors are also present. To the north is a lower, two-and-a-half storey range with 19th and 20th century casements, some with leaded glazing, and segmental arches over openings.

Attached to the north-east corner is a stable and gig house, featuring four first-floor sashes and three ground-floor openings with elliptical arched heads, along with square-headed double doors. A porte-cochere is supported by fluted cast iron columns.
