Description

The former Grammar School is a house dating from the 18th and 19th centuries. It is constructed of red brick and features a pantile roof. The building has two storeys, with the north front showcasing a central block that has a hipped roof and is three windows wide. To the left, there is a later two-storey canted bay, with a first-floor sash window that has glazing bars and a central tall casement window with leaded panes. The ground floor on the right includes a wide four-light casement window with glazing bars and a segmental head. The central entrance features a segmental-headed doorway flanked by two Tuscan columns that support an entablature. On either side of the central block, there are gabled bays that rise to one storey and an attic, each containing sash windows with leaded panes.

On the south front, the arrangement of windows is 1:3:1, with the ends gabled and slightly projecting. The windows are sashes with glazing bars, although some have been replaced with modern casements. The right-hand ground floor features a modern French window, while the central entrance has a late 19th-century panelled and glazed door, with a doorcase that has a cornice on brackets and a rectangular fanlight above. The building is topped with brick chimney stacks. On the east side, there are two large four-light casement windows with leaded panes and segmental arch heads.
