Description

This is a terrace of three houses dating to the early 19th century, located on Chapel Street in Hingham. They are built of gault brick, with low-pitched, hipped slate roofs featuring overhanging eaves. The houses have two storeys and a regular rhythm of windows: one window on either end, with three windows in a slightly projecting central section. All windows are sash windows with glazing bars, topped by flat brick arches. The central doorway of number 6 has wide pilasters and a large entablature with a heavy cornice, leading to a recessed panelled door with a rectangular fanlight containing glazing bars. The doorways to numbers 4 and 8 are set back at the ends; number 4 has a flush-panelled door with a traceried, semi-circular fanlight, while number 8 has a modern door. Yellow brick chimney stacks are visible.
