RAVENINGHAM RAVENINGHAM PARK TM 39 NE 6/127 Stable Block to 25-9-51 Raveningham Hall

GV II

Former stable block, now garages and stores. late C18/early C19. Red brick with hipped roof of black glazed pantiles. Two storeys, 'U' shaped plan around a courtyard, open to east. West range has semicircular headed shallow arcading 1½ storey high, five bays with ground floor sashes with glazing bars and upper level casements and loading doors. Continuous platband at first floor level. Centre bay contains ground floor double door with fanlight over. Central clock turret astride ridge line: square base with octagonal clock faces to east and west; above, four square colonnettes support a bellcote with an ogee lead-covered dome with weathervane. Large semicircular headed opening central in south range; openings altered and partly infilled. Entrance arch to driveway has semicircular arch with flat parapet surmounted by ball-finial. Square panelled brick gate piers to hall with moulded brick caps and acorn finials. Included for group value.
