Description
Milestone No 7, located on the south side of Norwich Road in Hethersett, is a late 18th-century milestone erected for the Norwich and Thetford Turnpike Trust. Made of limestone, it is wedge-shaped and stands approximately 88 cm high, tapering from 11 cm at the base to 25 cm at the top, which has a rounded cap. The milestone features recessed panels that display the inscriptions "NORWICH / 7 / MILES" and "THETFORD / 22 / MILES." The road was turnpiked in 1767.
