TG 10 SE HETHERSETT NORWICH ROAD (south side) 5/39 Milestone No 6 at TG 1526 0425

Milestone, late C18, for Norwich and Thetford Turnpike Trust; limestone. Wedge shaped, 68 cm high with rounded cap, tapering from 12 to 29 cm. Recessed full width panels inscribed NORWICH / 6 / MILES and THETFORD / 23 / MILES. The road was turnpiked in 1767.
