Description
Whitegates is an 18th-century house that now serves as the headquarters of the Norfolk Fire Service. It is constructed of colourwashed brick and topped with unglazed black pantiles. The building has a double depth layout with five bays and two storeys, featuring a hipped roof and additional bays on either side that match under flat roofs. There are chimney stacks on either side of the hips, with the left stack topped by a wind vane shaped like a firefighter. The eaves are adorned with wooden modillions. The ground floor has six flush sash windows, while the first floor has seven flush sash windows with glazing bars, all set beneath flat arches. The central entrance features a doorcase with Tuscan pilasters, and the door itself has two raised panels below and two glazed panels above, also with glazing bars.
