Description
The waterpump, dating from 1835, is made of cast iron and stands approximately 2.10 meters high, with a handle measuring 1.6 meters. It features a barrel with a 4-inch bore, clasped bands, and a crown finial. The pump is embossed with the words "SHALDERS PATENT / NORWICH / POWER" and "BARRETT & SON." It is one of six pumps that were erected for the Norwich and Thetford Turnpike Trust at a cost of £14-12-0 each, plus an additional 3 shillings for a padlock. Originally located about 350 meters to the south-west, the pump was moved around 1985 due to road construction.
