Description

Whitehouse Farmhouse is a late 17th-century farmhouse that has been converted into two dwellings. It is constructed of colourwashed brick and has a pantile roof. The dwelling on the right features a rear wing with renewed encasing walls and windows that are not of special interest. Its roof line is slightly higher, possibly indicating it has been renewed, and there is a central stack that is partly within the southeast dwelling.

The left dwelling (southeast) has two bays, is two storeys high with an attic, and includes a platband and gable parapet. It has an internal stack at the left end and a central doorway. The ground floor features a 2-light casement window to the left under a segmental arch and a 2-light 20th-century steel casement window to the right. The first floor has two 3-light casements. The left gable has a plinth, platband, and eaves band, with an inserted single light window on the first floor. The rear side has a platband, with the first bay containing a small casement window to the ground floor left and a 3-light casement to the right, while the first floor has a 2-light casement.

There is a 1½ storey wing that projects forward to bay 2, featuring brick tumbling in and a later parapet on the gable. It has a dormer and various openings to the northeast, with 2 and 3-light casements on the southeast side. Inside, the layout consists of two cells with a central cross passage, featuring stopped joists and a tie to the second cell. The first floor has massive stopped ties, and the roof is constructed with a two-tiered design that includes butt purlins. The rear wing also has a two-tier roof with butt purlins and collars.
