Description
The water pump located in the stable courtyard at Barrow Court dates from around 1891. It is made of ashlar and cast iron. The pump features a quatrefoil base with two steps leading to each niche between the foil projections. The structure is square at the base and rises to an octagonal pump shaft topped with a pyramidal cap. It has a cast iron pump handle and water spout, along with two wooden doors for maintenance on the shaft. Below the cap, there is carved lettering that reads: 'FIRST ADAM WENCHED HIS THIRST WITH WATER'.
