Description
The Gate Lodge and entrance archway, located to the southeast of Barrow Court, was built in 1884, as indicated on the rainwater head. It is constructed from squared and coursed rubble with flush dressed stone quoins, openings, and copings, topped with a stone tile roof and an ashlar stack. This tall, three-storey lodge is square in plan and designed in the Cotswold Vernacular style. The windows feature 6-light cross chamfered mullions on the ground and first floors, and 3-light mullions on the top floor, all fitted with small leaded pane casements and hoodmoulds. There is a lean-to porch and an oriel spy window facing the drive and house, along with further lean-to additions of a later date on the right side. The intersecting gabled roof is created by gable ends on each facade, with a clustered stack at the center. The archway, which is attached to the lodge on the left side, spans the drive and features a 4-centred chamfered arch.
