Description

The Tithe Barn at Barrow Court is a 14th-century building that has been converted into a house. It features large squared and irregular coursed rubble with flush rusticated dressed stone quoins, stone copings, and a pantile roof. The east facade, which faces the house, has a central midstrey with a lean-to projecting porch hood supported by brackets and a 20th-century glazed two-leaf door. The west facade includes a central former carriage arch with 19th-century plank gates that are permanently fixed back to the side walls, along with a glazed two-leaf door. The windows on this facade are 20th-century three-light chamfered mullions. The barn has a steeply pitched gabled roof. Inside, the conversion features a central double-height area where the roof beams are visible. These beams are supported on chamfered limestone corbels and consist of a simple through purlin, collar, and tie structure.
