Description
The Old Tithe Barn is a building dating from 1680 that has been converted into a house, with the conversion occurring around the 1980s. It is constructed of coursed limestone rubble, with gritstone dressings and quoins, and features a stone slate roof with moulded stone copings and plain kneelers. The barn has three bays and is two storeys high.
On the west side, there is a doorcase with a quoin surround, featuring a large lintel above and a 20th-century studded wooden door below. To the west of this doorcase, there is a small 20th-century casement window set under a large lintel. On the east side, a similar window is present, along with a doorcase that has a lintel inscribed with 'HE 1680', which is now filled by a 20th-century window. Further east, there is another window, and above, two single-pane casements are located in rebated hayloft openings. Additionally, there is a 20th-century window in an inserted opening to the east. The barn features a regular pattern of ventilation slits on all sides, along with bee holes in the quoins on both the west and east sides.
