Description

The Riverside Hotel is a house that has been converted into a hotel, originally built in the early 19th century with later alterations in the early 20th century. It features a rendered stone exterior with gritstone dressings and a stone slate roof. The gables have moulded stone copings and kneelers. The building is two storeys high and has an L-plan layout with a two-bay main elevation.

A prominent central porch projects from the front, showcasing an elaborate doorcase supported by Doric columns and topped with a dentilled broken pediment. The entrance features a raised and fielded panelled door with a semi-circular traceried fanlight above, flanked by two small lights. On either side of the porch, there are glazing bar sash windows set in flush surrounds, with two similar windows above. To the south, there is a two-storey canted bay window with glazing bar sashes on all sides, and three similar windows above it, all topped by a moulded and dentilled cornice. To the north, there is a large early 20th-century wing that includes mullioned windows. The interior has been significantly altered, but it features elaborate Tudor-style panelling in the 20th-century wing.
