Description
SK 19 69 PARISH OF ASHFORD IN THE WATER FENNEL STREET 11/31 (West Side) Riverside Hotel GV II
House, now hotel. Early C19 and early C20. Rendered stone with gritstone dressings. Stone slate roof. Moulded stone copings and kneelers to-gables. Two large C19 ridge stacks and early C20 tapering, rendered, side wall stack to west. Two storeys, L-plan, two bay main elevation. Projecting central porch with elaborate doorcase of Doric columns with dentilled broken pediment over. Raised and fielded panelled door with semi-circular traceried fanlight above. Two small lights to sides of porch. To either side, glazing bar sashes in flush surrounds. Two similar over. To south, two storey canted bay window with glazing bar sashes to all sides. Three similar windows over. Moulded and dentilled cornice above. To north, large early C20 wing with mullioned windows. Interior considerably altered, serve elaborate Tudor-style panelling to C20 wing.
