Description

This is an early 19th-century gate lodge situated on the north-east side of the south-east drive to Barham Court. The lodge is constructed of stuccoed brick with a slate roof. It is square in shape, featuring a shallow projection along the rear wall that stops short of the gable ends and is not internally subdivided. The lodge sits on a stuccoed plinth, with a plat band running in line with the window imposts. Rusticated quoins are visible, and the eaves have flat-panelled soffits. The roof is pyramidal, with a projecting rendered stack to the right. The rear projection has a round-headed sash window. Across the front wall is a round-headed window opening recessed within a round-headed arch. A boarded door, with a semicircular fanlight featuring radiating glazing bars, is set within a round-headed recess on the left gable end. A stuccoed lean-to is attached to the right gable end. Spear-headed iron railings and a gate-pier panel extend towards the front of the left gable end. It is associated with the nearby item 2/259.
