Description
The Laurels is a pair of houses located on Orwell Road, built in the mid-19th century with later alterations. They are constructed of yellow brick and feature a hipped slate roof with three brick ridge chimneys. The buildings are two storeys high and have seven first-floor windows. The corners of the houses are accentuated with rusticated brick quoins.
No. 1 has a central panelled door with a plain overlight, framed by a rendered architrave and topped with a plain hood supported by consoles. No. 2 features a later 19th-century rendered and glazed porch with a dentilled cornice. To the right of No. 2, there is a square-fronted ground-floor bay window with large-paned sashes that have horns. Both houses have canted ground-floor bays with full-height sashes on the left side of each unit. The remaining windows are sashes with glazing bars, set under flat gauged brick arches. The wings on the left and right are set back and each has one ground and one first-floor window, along with a hipped slate roof and a brick chimney.
