Description

A pair of houses dating from the early to mid-19th century, located on the north-east side of Town Close Road. The houses are built of yellow brick with a hipped slate roof and two brick ridge chimneys. They are two storeys high with four windows on the first floor. Each unit has rusticated brick quoins. The entrances are located on the sides of the properties and consist of panelled doors set within round-headed recesses finished with render and pilasters, topped by a plain fanlight. A tall window is located to the left of the ground floor of No. 1. The front facade of No. 2 is partially obscured by a 20th-century lean-to glazed extension. The windows are sash windows with glazing bars, set within raised brick surrounds and flat-gauged brick arches, with keyblocks on the ground floor. A two-tier brick cornice runs along the top of the facade.
