Description
TG 2308 NW WRIGHT'S COURT 16/964 (off Elm Hill) Nos 1-3 (inclusive) 5.6.72 and 3a GV II House(s), now shops. C16, remodelled C19 and later. Brick part-painted with rendered plinth, some rendering and 2nd storey of No 3a has exposed timber framing with red-brick infill; pantile roof. L-plan adjoining rear of No 43 Elm Hill (q.v.), probably part of an earlier courtyard house. Main range (Nos 1-2): 3 storeys and cellar. Scattered fenestration. 2 mullioned and transomed ground floor windows with leaded lights (one with iron casement) flanked by 2 doors; No 1 half glazed; No 2 ribbed with iron studs and in moulded doorcase. Leaded casement to left. Mullioned casements under segmental brick arches include 2 C20 replacements on first floor or No 1. Range parallel to Elm Hill (Nos 3 and 3a). Wooden doorcase with overlight to left of large-panel sash window. Large first-floor oriel window of 8 lights with filleted mullions and transomes. One second-floor casement. Interior of both parts has moulded beams and panelling. The sequence of additions can be deduced from the rear wall visible from Norris Court Gardens.
