Description

Nutmeg Cottage is a cottage dated 1670, with later alterations. It is constructed of brick, with some timber framing, and has a thatched roof. The cottage follows a lobby-entrance plan and has a front of four bays and one-and-a-half storeys. It features a brick plinth, a double door of three panels (the top two panels glazed) in the second bay, a wall to the left of the door in Flemish bond with black headers, 19th-century casement windows, 20th-century eyebrow dormers, and a kneelered parapet gable. An internal stack is present on the right-hand gable end, and an axial stack is also present. The central part of the rear of the cottage has a flint plinth and timber frame above. Inside, the date 1670 is inscribed on a fireplace bressumer, and a spine beam has a jewel stop.
