Description
The Limes is a house dating from the late 18th century, with an earlier core. It is built of Flemish bond brick and has a pantile roof, featuring a rectangular plan. The front of the house is two storeys high with five bays. There is a central doorcase, likely from the 19th century, which has a pediment supported by consoles. The door itself has lower panels and a glazed top section with glazing bars. The late 18th century sash windows, also with glazing bars, were restored around 1980 and have rubbed and gauged flat brick arches above them. The gable end stacks have been renewed. The right gable features a flint plinth with English bond brickwork above it, and there are two blocked openings with hood moulds in the attic. The left gable is rendered and scored. At the rear, there is a 19th-century outshut that is of no special interest. Inside, two ground floor rooms have spine beams with ovolo moulding, and there is a staircase beside them. The left-hand stack has a blocked opening with a brick mullion at the first floor level. The roof features staggered purlins.
