Description

The Erpingham War Memorial is a First World War memorial that includes additions for the Second World War. It is located in the churchyard of the Church of St Mary, which is a Grade I-listed building, and is prominently positioned near the entrance to the churchyard.

The memorial features a stone wheel-head cross atop a slender, moulded shaft. This cross is set on a two-tiered, tapering plinth with four sides, which stands above a single circular stone step base. The plinth is inscribed with incised lettering.

The inscription reads: PRO PATRIA/ 1914 - 1919/ 1939 – 1945.
