Description
Badgers Cottage is a cottage, formerly a pair, dating from the early 17th century and early 19th century. It features brick walls and a thatched roof, with a massive timber frame and additions at each end, along with cladding on the front. The south elevation has one storey and an attic, with five windows above four. The roof is hipped at the west end and has low eaves above an outshot, with eyebrow dormers and a large shafted stack. The walls are constructed in Flemish bond, divided into panels, with pilasters that merge with a first-floor band and a high plinth. The ground floor openings are cambered, though some have been altered. The windows are casements, and there are two plain doorways, one of which has a corrugated canopy supported by posts. The north elevation shows exposed framing, with brick infill and other walling from various dates. Inside, the frame is exposed, and one beam is dated 1623.
