Description
The Old Post Office is a cottage dating from the 17th century, with early 19th-century cladding. It features brick walls and a thatched roof. This timber-framed building has one storey and an attic, with the north front displaying two windows above three. The roof is half-hipped at the east end, revealing the exposed frame in the gable, while it is hipped at the west end and has low eaves above an outshot. It includes eyebrow dormers and a catslide roof at the rear. Some exposed brick-nogged framing can be seen at the back, although it is mostly concealed by a glazed conservatory. The other walls are made of red brick in Flemish bond with cambered openings. The ground floor features casement windows with cast-iron frames, and there is one old leaded upper casement. A 20th-century half-glazed door is set in a plain frame.
