Description
Malthouse Cottage is a 17th-century cottage that was originally a pair of cottages. It has 18th-century cladding and a 20th-century extension. The building is constructed of brick and thatch and is positioned at right angles to the roadway. The front, facing southeast, features one storey and an attic with five windows. The roof has a lower ridge above the north side extension, eyebrow dormers, and a catslide at the rear. The walls are built in Flemish bond with cambered openings and a plinth. The cottage has 20th-century casements and a boarded door set in a plain frame, topped with a thatched canopy supported by posts. Part of the rear wall reveals exposed framing that is bricknogged.
