Description

Manor Farmhouse is a house dating primarily from the 17th century, with alterations and extensions from the 18th century, and restoration and additions from the 20th century. The main part of the south-east front, dating from the 18th century, is two storeys and an attic, with five windows above three. It has a stepped roof ridge, with a half-hipped north end and a single hipped dormer window. The walls are of Flemish bond brick, with a first-floor band, cambered ground-floor openings, and a cemented plinth. The windows are 20th-century casements of varying sizes. A half-glazed door is set in a plain frame and sheltered by a large canopy supported on carved brackets. The rear elevation features a taller, projecting wing to the south, with a half-hipped roof, a lower part with exposed framing and herringbone brickwork, and tile hanging to the gable incorporating casements. A 20th-century classical doorway is also present. The south-west elevation incorporates the gable of the Georgian front, with a tile-hung upper part and flint walls with brick dressings. The earlier rear wing has brick walls in English bond, and there are two attached, stepped stacks.
