Description
Wenduyne is an early to mid 19th century building located at the corner of Brook Street and Tucker Street. It features a stuccoed exterior and a pantile roof with overhanging eaves supported by paired brackets. The building stands three storeys tall and has a splayed corner.
On the Brook Street side, there are four sash windows, some of which have glazing bars. One first-floor window is blind, while another is a three-light sash. The doorway for No 2 has a moulded architrave and a rectangular fanlight, and No 4 includes a large late 19th century shopfront with a cornice. The splayed angle has one window. The Tucker Street elevation has two windows, with a canted bay of sashes on the first floor. The mid-19th century corner shop features pilasters and a mutilated cornice.
Wenduyne, along with Nos 2, 4, and 6 Brook Street, as well as Melrose Cottage and Maynard House on Tucker Street, forms a group of buildings of architectural significance.
