Description

The monument to John Henry Earle is located northeast of the Church of St Peter and St Paul and was erected in 1858. It is a fairly squat stone obelisk set on a pedestal that features a moulded cornice and a moulded plinth. Above the cornice, there is a small pediment on each side, with acroteria at the corners. The inscription on the monument reads: "John Henry Earle, surgeon. Born Feb 26 1809, Died Dec 11 1858." This monument, along with the Parish Church of St Peter and St Paul, the churchyard boundary wall, and the war memorial, forms a cohesive group.
