Description
Nos. 20 and 21 on Horning Road are two houses that were originally one structure, dating back to the mid-17th century. The buildings are timber framed with a brick exterior, partly plastered, and feature a thatched roof. They have a lobby entrance plan and stand two storeys tall on a brick plinth. The central door is flanked by an early 19th-century segmental-headed casement window to the left and a 20th-century door further left. To the right of the central door, the facade extends out at ground level and is tiled, with another early 19th-century casement window. There is a moulded platband on the first floor, which has four early 19th-century casement windows of varying sizes. The houses also feature a timber eaves cornice and a gabled roof, with a partly rebuilt ridge stack. Lean-to extensions are present against the east and west gables, which are constructed in English bond brickwork. Inside, the timber framing is close studded, and there have been many internal alterations.
