Description
Clare Cottage and Lion House are a pair of houses that were once part of a single public house. They date back to the 17th century but have 20th-century details. The west house features rubble flint on its west side and knapped flint on the east, with a roof covered in red pantiles. It has three ground floor and three first floor 20th-century casements with glazing bars, along with a central door and a lowered roof pitch. The earlier house to the east has a bowed ground floor 20th-century casement and two first floor casements. It also boasts an early 19th-century doorcase with fluted pilasters and an entablature, along with a steeply pitched roof and an axial stack. Both houses are included in the listing primarily for their group value.
